🍽️ Walnut Naan
Introduction:
Naan with walnuts, aromatic and shelf-stable.
Detailed Introduction:
Walnut Naan is a speciality baked bread of Aksu, in Xinjiang — a region famous for walnuts. Chopped walnut kernels are kneaded into the dough and sprinkled with sesame before the bread is slapped into a tandoor and baked over charcoal. The finished naan has a crisp crust and soft interior, studded with walnut pieces; each bite weaves wheat aroma, nutty fragrance and sesame into a savoury, lightly sweet taste. Naan keeps well and travels easily, and is a daily staple of Uyghur life in southern Xinjiang; walnut naan is more nutritious and aromatic than plain white naan. In Aksu it is best hot from the oven, and is also carried away by visitors as an edible taste of Xinjiang.
