1. Itinerary planning (5 Days 4 Nights)
Day 1: Arrival in Lijiang → Day Tour of Dayan Ancient Town → Night View of the Ancient Town
Arrive at Lijiang Sanyi Airport or Lijiang Station before noon, and transfer to Dayan Ancient Town (Old Town of Lijiang) for check-in. It is recommended to choose a Naxi-style inn inside or near the ancient town for both convenient transportation and authentic local living atmosphere.
Stroll along the stone-paved roads in the ancient town in the afternoon, visit iconic spots including the Big Water Wheel, Sifang Street, Qiyi Street and Dayan Flower Lane. Tour the Mu Mansion, known as the "Palace of Naxi Kings", to appreciate the charm of Ming and Qing architecture and the historical heritage of the Naxi ethnic group.
Climb up to Wangulou Tower on Lion Hill in the evening to overlook the tiled roofs of the entire ancient town and enjoy the snow mountain silhouette at sunset. At night, you can visit the bar street or try Naxi street snacks in alley shops to experience the gentle nightlife of Lijiang.

Day 2: Jade Dragon Snow Mountain Day Tour → Blue Moon Valley → Ganhaizi Meadow
Head to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain Scenic Area early in the morning. Take the Glacier Park Cableway directly to the mountain hinterland at an altitude of 4,680 meters to view the ten-thousand-year glacier and snow-capped peaks up close. For visitors with limited physical strength or fear of high altitude, the more gentle Spruce Meadow or Yak Meadow cableways are recommended.
After going down the mountain, visit Blue Moon Valley. The clear Tiffany-blue lake stretches along the shore, with snow mountains and forests reflected on the water, earning it the reputation of "Little Jiuzhaigou". You can walk slowly along the wooden boardwalk and take photos at any scenic spot.
Stop at Ganhaizi Alpine Meadow on the way back. This vast alpine meadow is the best place to overlook the full view of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. On sunny days, the continuous snow peaks against the blue sky present a stunning view.

Day 3: Shuhe Ancient Town → Baisha Ancient Town → Yuhu Village
Head to Shuhe Ancient Town in the morning. Quieter and more relaxing than Dayan Ancient Town, it retains a more original Naxi village style. Visit Qinglong Bridge, Sifang Tingyin Square and Jiuding Dragon Pool. The area is dotted with artistic cafes and handmade shops, perfect for a leisurely walk and relaxation.
Transfer to Baisha Ancient Town at noon. It is one of the earliest settlements of the Naxi people with weak commercial atmosphere. You can visit the precious Baisha Murals to experience traditional Naxi painting art. The handmade copper shops and original workshops on the street are also very distinctive.
Visit Yuhu Village in the afternoon. The entire village is built with stones, backed by Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, and is known as the "First Naxi Village". You can wander around the village or ride a horse to tour the meadow at the foot of the snow mountain to experience the original Naxi lifestyle.

Day 4: Lijiang → Lugu Lake → Lake Loop Tour → Mosuo Bonfire Party
Depart from Lijiang urban area early in the morning and drive to Lugu Lake (about 3.5-4 hours' drive). Check in to a lake-view inn after arrival and take a short rest.
Start the Lugu Lake loop tour in the afternoon, visiting Lige Peninsula, Nisai Village and Goddess Bay (Zhaojiawan) in turn. Goddess Bay is the most famous sunset viewing spot on Lugu Lake. In the evening, the lake is covered with golden glow, and mountains and water set each other off, forming extremely beautiful scenery.
Attend a local Mosuo bonfire party at night, sing and dance with local residents, and learn about the unique Mosuo walking marriage culture and matrilineal clan folk customs.

Day 5: Sunrise at Lugu Lake → Mosuo Village → Return to Lijiang
Take a traditional pig-trough canoe on the lake early in the morning to watch the sunrise. The lake shrouded in morning mist looks like a fairyland, and the distant Gemu Goddess Mountain gradually becomes clear in the morning light, which is one of the most representative experiences of Lugu Lake.
Walk into an ancient Mosuo village in the morning, visit traditional local dwellings, and learn about the living customs and cultural characteristics of matrilineal families.
Drive back to Lijiang urban area after lunch. You can buy souvenirs such as maca, Yunnan arabica coffee and flower cakes as needed, then head to the airport or station for departure.

Peppermint Fried Spare Ribs
Cured Rib Hot Pot: A classic signature dish in Lijiang. The rich soup base is simmered with air-dried cured ribs, and the meat becomes tighter and more fragrant the longer it is cooked. Served with Yunnan local mushrooms and seasonal vegetables, it is warm and filling, making it the top warm food for plateau travel.
Jidou Chickpea Jelly: A traditional Naxi street snack made with local specialty chickpeas. It has a soft and chewy texture, available in cold mixed and pan-fried versions. Served with sour and spicy seasonings, it is refreshing, appetizing and affordable.

Plateau Salmon: Salmon bred with mountain spring water in Lijiang, with tender and odorless meat. It is usually served in "three ways of one fish" (sashimi, hot pot, fried fish skin), with high cost performance, and is a local characteristic dish.
Butter Tea: A classic drink of ethnic minorities in northwest Yunnan, available in sweet and salty flavors. It has a rich and mellow taste, which can not only resist the cold on the plateau, but also help relieve mild altitude sickness.
3. Practical Travel Tips
The urban area of Lijiang is about 2,400 meters above sea level, and the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain Scenic Area is over 4,500 meters above sea level. Avoid strenuous exercise and drink more water when you first arrive at the plateau. Mild altitude sickness can be relieved gradually. If you have severe headache or breathing difficulties, please seek medical attention in time.
The local area has strong ultraviolet rays and a dry climate. Be sure to take sun protection and moisturizing measures, and carry high-SPF sunscreen, sun hat, lip balm and moisturizing skincare products with you.
Most roads in Lijiang Ancient Town are stone-paved, and motor vehicles are prohibited. It is recommended to wear comfortable flat shoes and keep luggage light to avoid carrying heavy luggage around.
The mountain road to Lugu Lake has many bends. People prone to motion sickness should prepare motion sickness medicine in advance. During peak tourist seasons (winter and summer vacations, statutory holidays), it is recommended to book accommodation, bus tickets and scenic area cableway tickets half a month in advance.
The local area is inhabited by ethnic minorities such as Naxi, Mosuo and Tibetan. Please respect local customs during your visit, and ask for permission before entering local dwellings and temples.
