🍽️ Kunming Dumpling

📍 Province: Yunnan 🏙️ City: Kunming
Introduction:
Kunming steamed dumpling, local classic.
Detailed Introduction:
Kunming Dudu Shaomai is a traditional steamed dumpling of Kunming, Yunnan, a Yunnan-style open-top dim sum. Thin wrappers enclose a savory minced-pork filling, left open at the top, and are steamed until just set. The skin is springy, the filling generous and juicy, more tightly packed and more savory than Jiangnan-style shaomai. Wrapper elasticity and precise steaming time matter; oversteaming breaks the skin. Kunming locals eat a steamer for breakfast or a mid-morning snack, often with a bowl of rice noodles or butter tea. Though its name carries historical lore, the taste is homely and straightforward, a remembered old Kunming flavor found at time-honored shops around Green Lake and Nanping Street.
