🍽️ Shanwei Thin Pancake

📍 Province: Guangdong 🏙️ City: Shanwei
Introduction:
Hailufeng thin pancake with sprouts and shrimp.
Detailed Introduction:
Shanwei Thin Pancake is a specialty snack of the Hailufeng region in eastern Guangdong, similar to a spring roll but with an even thinner, more elastic skin. Flour is rolled into paper-thin round wrappers, wrapped around stir-fried fillings of bean sprouts, shredded carrot, dried small shrimp and minced pork, and rolled up to eat on the spot. Bite in and the skin is paper-thin while the filling is savory and crisp, the sweet freshness of bean sprouts balanced by the seafood savor of dried shrimp. Hailufeng locals buy a few rolls as a snack at festivals and street markets, with vendors making them to order. It shares roots with Minnan and Chaoshan spring pancakes yet has its own character, and is one of the easiest local snacks for visitors to try in Shanwei.
