Introduction:
Rice sheet rolled with fillings.
Detailed Introduction:
Fengshun Rolled Rice Sheet is a Hakka breakfast snack from Fengshun county in Meizhou, eastern Guangdong. Rice milk is steamed into a thin, pliable sheet, then wrapped around fillings of stir-fried dried bamboo shoot, dried tofu, minced pork and Chinese chives, rolled tight into a long cylinder and cut into sections. The wrapper is soft with a fresh rice aroma, the filling savory and substantial, and each bite layers the two clearly. It resembles the rice rolls of nearby Chaoshan, but Fengshun rolls are more thickly filled with a sturdier rice skin. Fengshun locals start the day with a plate of these rolls plus a bowl of pork-offal soup, convenient and filling. Today they are found at snack stalls across Meizhou streets and are one of the most representative quick breakfasts of the Hakka mountain region.
