Yangjiang
🍽️ Zhugang Lu
Introduction:
Rice sheet rolled with sprouts, street snack.
Detailed Introduction:
Zhugang Lu is Yangjiang's most distinctive street snack in coastal western Guangdong, a kind of rice noodle roll. A soft, thin steamed rice sheet wraps a filling of stir-fried bean sprouts, rice vermicelli, shredded carrot and minced pork, rolled into a long cylinder, cut into sections, dressed with hot oil and soy, sprinkled with sesame, and dipped in local chili sauce. Its long, cylindrical shape is said to resemble a pig's intestine, hence the name. The skin is silky, the filling crisp, the taste savory with a gentle chili kick. It is a Yangjiang breakfast and afternoon-tea regular, cheap and made to order; street carts and breakfast stalls sell it by the bag, often eaten on the move—one of the most soulful carbs in Yangjiang.
