Kenting
🍽️ Local Sashimi
Introduction:
Strait-caught fish slices with wasabi.
Detailed Introduction:
Kenting, at Taiwan's southern tip, is ringed by rich fishing grounds, so local sashimi here is notably fresh. Vendors use the day's catch of offshore fish such as sailfish, tuna and sea bream, filleting, skinning and slicing them thick before chilling. The clean, firm flesh, dipped briefly in soy sauce and fresh wasabi, bursts with the natural sweetness of the sea. Around Houbihu fishing harbor and the old streets of Hengchun, generous plates of affordable sashimi are commonly served with fish-ball soup and stir-fried seafood. Eating fresh raw fish by the shore is a signature experience for visitors and a reflection of southern Taiwan's coastal fishing culture.
